Me, Posh, Beyonce & Sarah-Michelle are ready for The Big Apple!

Most of you have never seen me in a LBD–I prefer a LPinkD or LMultiD but since I’m headed for New York I figured I’d dress the sleek sophisticated, east-coast part with true Hollywood Style! Ow! Fortunately this fitted Little black dress is from the Carilyn Vaile fall 2011 collection so I can still breathe as well as bloat from airplane peanuts…

I hope to see those of you headed to Coterie in the next few days at Carilyn Vaile Coterie Booth #10232!!! The Spring 2012 collection is fresh, sexy & vibrant!

Being a Superwoman is not a bad thing…but only in doses (via Nichole’s Motor Mouth)

AMEN! I’m on the couch tonight! Ow!!!

Being a Superwoman is not a bad thing...but only in doses Being a Superwoman is not a bad thing…but only in doses. Today, my neighbor had day surgery. She is in her early 30s, single, and her parents live over 200 miles away. The surgery went well but she is in pain which is expected. I took her and picked her up. When I talked to the nurse who wheeled her out of recovery, she told me they wouldn't have done the surgery if they thought she didn't have someone to stay with her during the night. I'm goi … Read More

This article was so encouraging. It tells me when I do need someone to be there for me, it is not because I am weak, but because I am strong enough to recognize when I need the help from a sister superwoman!!! Thank you Carilyn!!! Xoxoxoxo

Mommy & Me attire-the benefits to having SideKits & packed cars! ;)

Today I was unprepared for my nephew’s third birthday and me and the girls went without our bathing suits….fortunately my SuperWoman SideKit actually has a swimsuit in it but the girls had just finished preparing their SideKits for school and did not include swimsuits…But I’m NOT the type of mom to deny them the pleasure of participating in a slip-n-slide nor a blow up pool so all of us ended up soaking wet in our clothes and I had to come up with something for Sova to wear once she was done frolicking in the water…Remy actually DID pack underwear, socks and a change of clothes in her SideKit (turns out she’s been paying attention to mom more than I may have noticed!haha)

So my white T and chunky necklace became a dress and belt for my 6 year old! Creativity and innovation live out loud in my home! Ow! Happy Holiday Weekend, Everyone! XXOO Enjoy the frolicking!!!

This Celebrity Fashion Trend can last you all week!

Jumpsuits are all over the editorials & the tabloids! As a fan & designer of  low-maintenance, high-impact fashion I LOVE this “one piece dressing” trend and wear it often…

I have one particular item in the fall Carilyn Vaile collection that has become my go-to piece and  have realized its name need now be: The Wonder Jumpsuit!

In Episode 2 of Swanky Sunday’s, this Wonder Jumpsuit got me thru an entire week but still I felt I had more Style-Life left to express with it.  So, I spent 30 minutes going thru my SuperWoman SideKit of accessories and then made another visit to my  fellow Swanky SuperWoman’s store for additional accent items.

Swanky SuperWoman = a woman who may sleep in her clothes sometimes but often reaches for what’s next to her bed in order to keep up her life’s pace-LOL :p…Are YOU a Swanky SuperWoman??? I wanna know!

Style-Life= like we women want a great lifestyle …we also want a great Style-Life….a Style-Life is the presence of personal expression thru the individual wardrobe choices we make… How is your Style-Life?

You can find these great & affordable accent items at http://www.bohemiaboutiques.com

Back to School in Swanky Style…The Wonder Woman way!

Swanky Style is of the upmost importance at times like these! Schedule a play date for your kids and get your swanky style on! Mom needs items that are wrinkle resistant, comfortable but also stylish (NO SWEATS, MAMA!), and can easily morph with little accents and accessories into entirely different outfits!

I made this video for YOU! Growing up with Wonder Woman, I’m inspired by her ability to change outfits simply by spinning around….we may need a little extra help but with those 30
Everyone is always focused on the kids heading back to school…they need a new bag, they need new shoes, new books, new pencils, on and on…but WHAT ABOUT US MOMS?! That’s the REAL issue here, isn’t it?! How are we gonna deal with this change in routine? The summer pace as certainly had an impact and if those of us who got to sleep in and stay up late haven’t begun changing our inner clocks we’re in for a big surprise!
minutes on sundays to plan how you’ll make last that jumpsuit for the week-take a watch!

And for fun–Check out my dream come true of just spinning around to change outfits instantly—Swanky Style the Wonder Woman way! Triple Ow!

Creating a Photo Shoot; Spring 2012-Let there be glamour! Ow!

I’m tellin’ ya, a team of great people is what makes fabulousness happen PLUS it makes life worth livin’…“L.I.V.I.N”-my second favorite line from the movie, “Dazed and Confused“. (Matthew McConaughey was perfect in this role)

    My first favorite line?!:

“That’s why I love them high school girls, man…

    I get older…

    They stay the same age.”

    LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Sooo, back to the shoot….photographer, Dimitry Loiseau (and YES he IS a haute frenchman as we confirmed yesterday–CVC is veeeeeery continental :) ), and make up & hair stylist, Valerie Noble, both from Regard Magazine  & Regard Magazine Photoshoots, along with their ever magnificent model, Krista, made the Carilyn Vaile Spring 2012 collection come to life! On such a roll, we shot almost 40 looks in just 5 hours!

There are four main seasons in fashion; spring, summer, fall, winter with a fifth in some parts of the county being resort or cruise. Brands can have different names for these seasons but for the most part this is how the industry is broken down. And buyer purchasing deadlines dictate when each collection is launched.

Six months to a year prior to those dates, the design team creates a concept for each specific season which will then inspire the sketching, patterning, fabric developing and color choice the team chooses. Many people contribute to the end result….a shocking amount actually, which opens the process up to a LOT of mishap and opportunity for poor communication and mistake…the fun part though, aside from the adrenaline that comes from being up against a deadline and passionately inspired to see a concept come to life, is that often mistakes lead to the next best invention or creation…So, as frustrating as some can be, its important to stay open to opportunity and finding each problem’s solution quickly .

A lot of time & preparation go into creating each of the 4 or 5 season’s photo shoots as well.  I have spent many a late night creating & editing my storyboard, putting the items together, insuring each ensemble has a strong presence and delivers a sense of “harmony” when together, making sure all colors are properly represented.

    The Storyboard

Everyone did an amazing job capturing the effortless elegance of Carilyn Vaile and the bright, playful yet sophisticated palette Spring 2012 offers. This is only to be a tease since I’ll get in trouble (…Jackie! ;p) for leaking too much but shine is IN, bigtime..+.texture…reversibles…and color, color, color!

If you are in the fashion industry and attending the Vegas show next week (August 23-26), come and see the entire captivating collection at the WWIN show Pavilion room, booths #221-225!

Here is a sneak peek….because I cannot resist! I HAVE to share!

on set; A new spring 2012 blouse with the CV Dream Jean

(A HUGE thank you goes out to my new bff at Cathy Jean, Main Place Mall for opening up  early friday am before the shoot so I could grab the KICK ASS patent 6″ pumps in mango, hot pink & cobalt suede—haute haute haute!!)

As an accessory lover…Or fein might be more precise…I love to mix and match all categories as well as price points. For this shoot I was lucky enough to find incredible bangles and cuffs at Forever 21 which helped intensify the colors & power of the season….

Wonder Woman would be proud of these cuffs!

In fact, I have SO many accessories from  all my styling over the years I’ve found new ways to display them all! Being at the beach, space is limited and though I LOVE lanterns, letting them sit there with wide open space inside started to get to me. So, I took out the candle and stuffed one with jewels….I stuffed another one with candy (since that is another love of min)…

Lanterns and Candy Jars make a great accessory display.

I love having a "candy store" in my kitchen!

With my necklaces I draped them over one of my chandeliers creating a one-of-a-kind look that is very me…The sparkles and colors make me smile…I also added pink twinkle lights wrapped thru the hanging chains…

    My Chandelier of Accessories.

1 pant – ALL WEEK! Swanky Sunday— Style Preview!

The Carilyn Vaile genie pant (aka "The Hammer pant") worn as a jumpsuit

True to SuperWoman style & a dependence on wearing what’s closest to my bed- I’m taking one of my favorite items from the Carilyn Vaile collection and making it last  ALL WEEK….with the additional challenge of not hearing “didn’t you wear that yesterday?” (A question I know well & one that has painfully scorched its presence into my Stylelife…..Let me share… ;) )

    FLASHBACK:

    ———–

7th grade. I was busy at my locker, minding my own dang business just getting ready for my next class…I was feelin’ good… I had on a precocious blouse (style was always important & I was often in my mother’s closet) with my tight Jordache jeans…

Just about an hour previous I had checked-in on my outfit choice with my mother…

” mom, do you think anyone will know I wore these jeans yesterday?”, the concerned pre-teen (who, just a couple years earlier, was sleeping in her next days outfit saving herself the 5 minutes it took to dress…times had changed…LOL)

With the absolute assurance that only a mother can give, she said:

“Honey, if your top is different, no one will notice”…

    So, THATS what I did!

I painted on yesterday’s Jordache jeans,  picked a different top and feeling like Farrah Fawcett I headed off to school…

So here I am, busy at my locker, minding my own dang business just getting ready for my next class when…

Not three minutes later, one of the shameless, rotten, no-good, despicable,  rich BOYS from my school says,

“Didn’t you wear those jeans yesterday?!”

….AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH….MOOOOOOOMMMMMM WWWHHHYYY DDDDIIIDDD YYYOOUUU SSSAAAYY TTTHAAATTT????!!!!!!

DEVASTATION. COMPLETE SHOCK….I felt like crying a river of humiliating tears and screaming: “BUT MY MOM SAID NO ONE WOULD NOTICE IF I JUST CHANGED MY TOP! WHY ARE YOU NOTICING?!”

….An opportunity to think on my feet had presented itself and though inside was still dying a slow, torturous, mortifying death I pulled my twelve year old self together, put on an Oscar worthy face, and replied,

“NO! (in disgust), I have several of these jeans!” and looked at him like he was from another planet.

    ————–

Looking back now I can see he was OBVIOUSLY (;PP) checking out my twelve year old tush so intensely that he could recognize the label on the pocket! hahahahahahahahaahah

SOOOOOOOOO, anyways, this sunday – in homage to 7th grade – I will be wearing the same pant 7 days in a row! TAKE THAT, DUDE!

What does it REALLY mean to be a “fashion designer”?! I’m here to show you!

After 18 years in the fashion industry I’ve learned how not to take myself so seriously and what “being flexible” really means….I’ve had production managers taken away to jail and sewing contractors lock my merchandise in her trunk until I did what she wanted me to do…The list is long and colorful. My education is baptism by fire and by the seat of my pants but I’ve made it this far….hahaaha, I’m ready to really share what it takes to make the fashion we see on the glamourous runways and editorials….

    CVTV begins….

    Can SuperMan please be real?!

As much as I need to sleep, my Mach 5 mind is racing…I once had concrete dreams of family life…how wonderful it would be to share life with someone…raise children, laugh together, watch them grow together, romantic, fun, passionate love & life together….It seemed I had exactly that for some time…And then, for as fast as a SuperWoman life moves, this part seemed in slow motion: I lost my happiness. Where did  it go and how did it happen? I realized I was so busy managing life and letting life pull my strings I lost control. I lost my voice. and I lost my choice. and I lost my dream…
Unfortunately my lessons came at a price not only I paid. My marriage ended & my children now lived in separate homes (still to this day, 4+years later, asking to please yet again share a home…”daddy can sleep in one room and mommy in another”; cute & perhaps ideal- but still,  a story only Walt Disney could find a way to tell well. I had lost my FIRST dream but a new one was being born…
Life moves on whether we are ready for it to or not. These happenings are opportunities presented to us to learn OR to repeat until we Do in fact learn to ask for something different. I let my happiness disappear in my marriage. I fell prey to the belief that I was responsible for his happiness and ignored mine…. this belief,  I know now, no one could ever measure up to or do right by. And, a lesson I continue to teach myself ; that no one else is responsible for MY happiness-that tall order is all mine. I am also clear with possible suitors (haha now I’m sounding like my grandma-LOL) that relationships are a choice and who we are and who we BE in those relationships is also a choice..a daily and sometimes hourly choice.
My new dream and My new & ONLY choice now is for MY happiness… which actually is kind of cool that no matter what is going on around me..no matter what dances people are doing physically or mentally, I am choosing my happiness. Its amazing how incredibly powerful that choice is. What it really says is “you do what you do and you say what you say but no matter what, I am happy; I choose for none of those things to get in the way of me being happy”. This commitment of mine requires me to KNOW what makes me happy and often call on that in the face of many things that years earlier would have sent me on a downward spiral. Now let this be known-borrowing Wonder Woman’s truth lasso here for a minute, I’m no where near guru status on this one and I fall off this wagon often enough, yet I can now recognize its happening and actually allow it to happen…preferably with a stop clock ticking. But, when I do  allow myself that dramatic adventure I also know that I HAVE THE POWER to pull myself out of it! I need not look to another, nor blame another…I am the one who holds the power!
So…back to my ponder…all this sliver-of-personal-life aside….what type of man or life-companion (male OR female) makes sense for a SuperWoman? Now, ideally I tell myself, “hell, it could be any type of man since we control our own happiness, we can be happy no matter what”. And, technically that would be true BUT I also don’t want any of us to be “coaching ourselves” every 10 minutes out of the dumps or giving ourselves pep talks all the time to raise our mood..hahahah omg im exhausted just thinking about this….SO, I ask you again: What type of man can hang with life at Mach 5…with a woman who wants to achieve all she can in this lifetime and may or may not have a lot of time to give yet feels she’s willing to give it all…who is often run down and often revved waaay up…who is in charge of her own destiny and doesn’t want to take any bs, guilt trips, or machismo control stuff..YET still likes to be told what to do at the right times (wink wink) and thrown over a wide hard shoulder every now and again…
is he older? is he younger (i’m thinkin yes to this one)? has he found his own success? is he still on his way? does he have family of his own? is he close to his mom? does he have a sensitive side? should he have sisters? is he a caveman?…..No matter what he is and is not I’m clear he MUST take charge when she’s had a long day and wants to shut down…he must be able to care for her emotionally and physically…he must have confidence to plan things she doesn’t need to think about…he needs to still show romance no matter how much is seems she doesnt need it, she still is a female who wants to be sought after and looked after ..oh, and flattered! Don’t forget to flatter her!
Have I listed all things in our personal ad, SuperWomen? :) What do you think? Do you agree? Did I leave anything out? How about this: he is there for her whenever she needs it..he knows to be there waiting without suffocating her…hahaha i think my mom is laughing at this one: might as well say :I want a man who knows everything I want and need  and exactly when I want and need it even though I myself have no idea what, when or where that is! Just be ready! hahahahahahaha LOL….
The more clear we know what we want in life, the faster it comes to us. Find what makes you happy and DO IT!
Thank you for reading and thank you for sharing your thoughts with me! To SuperWomen worldwide-You Inspire Me!

    Your Life. Your Rules.

    Yes, you are!
    Here’s to Heroically Hectic Lifestyles!
I like to think of todays heroically hectic woman as superwoman.. i like referring to myself as a superwoman as well as YOU my like minded hustling friends–this isnt meant to be arrogant or prima donna but instead to be a reminder that this hustling lifestyle is MY CHOICE—-and also as an affirmation that I am special-that I matter and that others depend on me to be this superwoman i have found myself -AND NOW CHOSEN- TO BE….this is the biggest rut women fall into–is taking care of everyone else and everything we’ve signed ourselves up for not realizing we MUST come first in order to truly provide all we need to.
Superwoman is the newly recognize woman…she has been called many things as society and media try to fit her into a comfortable and understandable box but there IS NO BOX–SO GIVE IT UP-GIVE UP THE PINCHING ALREADY! We are nurturers but we are also providers.. WE ARE warriors.
Women are innately capable of multi-tasking which means we CAN do many things at one time; pack school lunches while leading a video conference call for example. Raising our children AND our career. WE are PROVIDERS in every sense of the word. we provide love, care, nurturing, encouragement, support, emotional AND financial as well both for ourselves AND our families.
What eats me up is the slice of pie we give  to our self care/self nurture/self support. This is my mission in so many ways- i want women to RECOGNIZE FIRST-that they HAVE CHOSEN THIS LIFESTYLE (whether it feels like it or not) feel grateful for your “powers”/ your ability to live at this pace and now start to CREATE your superhero….AND your SideKit!
First thing i tell women is be prepared to cut yourself some slack once you enter this heroic emotional lair-find out what you can loosen the ropes on (for me i realize my house will always be “FULL”-thats just how i like it and if it annoys people who come to visit that it their problem not mine-i refuse to give up hero time to try and please another–and this is superwomans first vow:
i promise to release the need to please others…a happy woman is a happy family
Our new Mantra: Repeat after me: “I Am Doing A Great Job!” “I Am Doing A Great Job!”
The carilyn vaile collection continues to be born out of my desire to enjoy life in as many ways as possible and to create as many experiences as possible. and i want this for all women who choose it. I am convinced my calling is fashion -i have been designing professionally now for 20 years tho ive dabbled all my life. I did not go to fashion school nor business school–i went to learn by the seat of your pants school. learn thru relationships, experiences, experiments, trial and error in other words-learn by simply following your passion. that is my road. its wildly bumpy, and curvy as hell but its mine-i made it and i am here to tell women to do the same thing-find your passion and nurture yourself enuf to follow it.
I also am a published author (in 5 languages)-in 2003 i co-wrote a book called I Am Diva! Every womans guide to outrageous living. with Warner Books. I don’t have a creative writing background-or classical writing or any other kind of writing but again- i do have passion and i love creating relationships. I guess I have used my UCSB BA in communications degree all along my chosen career path..it just didnt look the way it was “supposed” to….does it ever?! i’ve never answered yes. My LIfe. My Rules.
